The director shuttled to the sets of Kaduva from Alone in a space of just one day
Shaji Kailas seems to have taken enough rest the past eight years when he stayed away from helming a Malayalam film. Now, the filmmaker has back-to-back exciting movies loading – Mohanlal’s Alone and Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Kaduva.
The ace director, who had recently completed shooting Mohanlal’s film, has now resumed the shoot of Kaduva. Sharing photos from the sets of the movie on his social media page, Shaji wrote, “For the next 70 days, my journey will solely be with Kaduva. As it’s a movie shot in a big canvas, all necessary arrangements have been made prior to its shoot.”
Prithviraj plays the lead character named Kaduvakunnel Kuruvachan, who is a rubber planter based in Mundakayam, in the film scripted by Jinu Abraham. The film also has Arjun Ashokan, Samyuktha Menon, Siddique and Aju Varghese. Vivek Oberoi is also reportedly part of the cast. Prithviraj and Vivek had earlier worked together in Lucifer.
The movie is a ‘mass’ action-entertainer set in the 90s and marks Prithviraj’s second collaboration with the director after their 2012 movie Simhasanam.
Kaduva is co-produced by Prithviraj Production and Listin Stephen’s Magic Frames. Shaji’s Alone, meanwhile, is backed by Antony Perumbavoor’s Aashirvaad Cinemas. While Kaduva is expected to be a theatrical release next year, Alone could find itself releasing directly on an OTT platform, based on the production company’s previous ventures based on similar budget range.
Alone marks the first time that Shaji and Mohanlal, who had previously worked in superhits such as Aaraam Thampuran and Narasimham, are collaborating in the past 12 years.
