Seems like director Jeethu Joseph and Mohanlal will be coming out with one movie together at least for the next two years. After Drishyam 2 in 2020 and 12th Man in 2021, the duo will next collaborate for Ram, which is set for a 2022 release, and then for another film that will be produced by Aashirvad Cinemas.

Jeethu confirmed the news in an interview, saying that once he has done shooting for Ram this year, he has two more Malayalam movies lined up – including a film with Mohanlal that will be backed by Aashirvad Cinemas that had also produced the Drishyam duology and 12th Man. Jeethu also mentioned that he will be working on a Bollywood film too. The filmmaker made his Bollywood debut in 2019 with Emraan Hashmi and Rishi Kapoor-starrer The Body.

The duo’s latest venture 12th Man, which is a whodunit mystery film, had released on Disney+ Hotstar on May 20. The multi-starrer, which also has Unni Mukundan, Sshivada, Saiju Kurup, Rahul Madhav and Anu Sithara, marked Mohanlal and Jeethu’s second direct-to-OTT release after Drishyam 2 in February 2020.

Jeethu, meanwhile, has also completed shooting for Asif Ali’s thriller Kooman, which is also scripted by 12th Man writer KR Krishnakumar. The filmmaker will next head to Middle East and the United Kingdom for the recce of Ram, which is set to resume shooting from June end.

The movie, which was stalled due to the pandemic restrictions, has Trisha, Indrajith Sukumaran, Chandunath and Adil Hussain in pivotal roles. The big budget movie has been scaled up during the pandemic break to make for a theatrical experience, said Jeethu, in an earlier interview with OTTplay.

Mohanlal, meanwhile, has two more songs left in his directorial debut Barroz: The Guardian of D’Gama’s Treasure that will be shot in Portugal and Bangkok. He is expected to join Jeethu’s film after that.
