On World Radio Day, Prime Video unveiled the release date and motion poster for the historical drama Ae Watan Mere Watan.
Prime Video announced the premiere date of Ae Watan Mere Watan their next original feature film, on World Radio Day. The motion poster announcing the film's release date featured Sara Ali Khan fervently calling on the nation to stand united in opposition to the British Raj over a covert radio in her powerful performance as Usha Mehta. Kannan Iyer directs the film, which is written by Dara Farooqui and Iyer and features Sachin Khedekar, Abhay Verma, Sparsh Shrivastav, Alexx'O'Neil, and Anand Tiwari. Emraan Hashmi also makes a special cameo appearance. Dharmatic Entertainment made the film, with Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, and Somen Mishra as the producers.
Yes, you read it right! Emraan will be making a special appearance in the film. Rumour has it that the actor is playing the part of Ram Manohar Lohia, a prominent socialist politician. In addition to being Mehta's instructor, he was instrumental in founding Congress Radio, an underground station that was critical for the Quit India movement's communication in 1942. Even if it's a minor part, Emraan has more than made up for it with his performance. He was overjoyed to film his scene in Mumbai last year and be a part of the story of the liberation warriors. A source also told Peeping Moon that the actor's involvement makes the picture even more exciting.
This also means that Emraan has reunited with his Ek Thi Daayan director Kannan Iyer after a decade in Ae Watan Mere Watan.
The film is about an inspiring young girl who changed the direction of India's freedom war in the fictional story, which chronicles the fascinating story of an underground radio station. The motion poster captures the courage, patriotism, sacrifice, and perseverance displayed by the youth of India during the freedom movement and draws inspiration from the incredible journey of freedom fighter Usha Mehta. It pays tribute to both the renowned and unknown heroes of the cause. Coming to Prime Video on March 21 in Hindi with Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada dubs, this evocative historical thriller-drama is sure to captivate audiences.
In a statement, Dharmatic Entertainment's Karan Johar said that the company has always been proud to release heartfelt stories, and Ae Watan Mere Watan exemplifies that. Kannan and Darab have created a complex story with a strong emotional core, drawing inspiration from a tragic event in India's history. Sara's outstanding performance as a young revolutionary further adds to the richness of the plot.
The filmmaker went on to say that, for many years, radio has been an important tool for fostering discussion by informing, engaging, and entertaining the general public. As a tribute to the power of radio to bring India together and ignite a passion in every Indian, Ae Watan Mere Watan seeks to strengthen the resolve of the Quit India Movement. They couldn't think of a more fitting day to announce the film's March 21 release than today, World Radio Day. Karan is thrilled to begin this adventure with Prime Video and unveil this powerful and inspiring story to the world, as this has been a dream in the making.
