Toby is being presented by KVN Productions, which will handle the film’s domestic and overseas distribution. The film will release in theatres on August 25
On Friday, on the auspicious occasion of the Varamahalakshmi habba, a Kannada film that derives part of its narrative from the folklore associated with another goddess – Maariamma – will be in theatres. Kannada actor-filmmaker Raj B Shetty’s Toby, the tagline of which is Maari ge Daari - ‘Make way for Maari’ is releasing on August 25, and KVN Productions, which is handling the film’s theatrical distribution is busy making arrangements for the same.
Speaking to OTTplay earlier, KVN Productions Business head Mohan Suprith had said that the Karnataka release of Toby was being earmarked at about 200 screens, with at least 125 single-screens as part of it. The film, he said, would be out in its Kannada original version first, with dubbed ones in Telugu and Tamil, to be introduced in the market later, depending on the response to Toby. For the rest of India and overseas release also, it is the Kannada version that is going out, he explained. As of today, August 22, online advance booking has opened in a few screens across the state, which will increase through the course of the day. A final count of screens/shows will be available only on Thursday, said Suprith.

Interestingly, in the theatres that Toby booking has opened, ticket rates remain nominal between Rs 100 and Rs 240 only. Multiplex bookings are yet to open and we will update if there are hiked ticket rates in play or not. The earliest shows for Toby will be around 10 am, Suprith added, ruling out the possibility of early morning shows for the Raj B Shetty-led film.

The film is getting a vast overseas release as well, with only UAE pending owing to certain mandatory censor guidelines that have to be met. The UAE release should happen in a week, said Suprith, adding that the team is looking at having overseas premieres on August 24 for Toby.
