The highly-anticipated Hindi remake of Arun Vijay’s Tamil film Thadam has found its hero. Aditya Roy Kapur will play the lead in the upcoming movie, directed by debutant Vardhan Ketkar. The film’s producers Bhushan Kumar and Murad Khetani confirmed the casting.
The yet-to-be-titled Hindi film is based on true events, which will see Aditya in dual roles, in two contrasting avatars. The movie is tentatively scheduled to go on floors this September.
Talking about his take on this new project, Aditya said in a statement, “I am inspired and excited to be part of telling such an interesting story. The original film was incredibly riveting and entertaining, and it left a lasting impression on me.” The Fitoor actor also mentioned that he is up for the challenge to do a dual role and double the preparation for the film.
While talking about his collaboration with Aditya and Khetani again, T-series honcho Bhushan said in a recent statement that he is excited about remaking Thadam as it received a lot of acclaim down south. “The last film we did with Aditya was an action movie and everyone loved him in that role,” added Kumar. He also mentioned that both of them mutually decided to rope in the Malang actor as the lead.
Thadam follows a murder investigation that has two suspects, who look alike but doesn’t know each other at all, which makes it even more challenging for the investigating officers. Apart from Arun Vijay, the action-thriller also featured Tanya Hope, Smruthi Venkat and Vidya Pradeep in significant roles.
