India's only nominee at the 2024 International Emmys, Aditya Roy Kapur's The Night Manager has been selected in the Best Drama category.
The Night Manager Aditya Roy Kapur's first foray into OTT television, is the sole Indian nominee for an International Emmy in 2024. It has made the cut for Best Drama Series. On Saturday, the actor departed for New York to be with his team at the event.
The whole crew flew down, the 39-year-old tells HT City. Since he, too, had a break from filming, the actor thought it would be a fitting way to end the whole thing. The show's close-knit cast and crew attended the Emmys jointly.
The ceremony will take place on November 26. However, Kapur is not concerned about the outcome; he thinks it's fantastic that they were nominated, even though he is sure everyone else is, including director Sandeep Modi, as the victory would be the icing on the cake.
When asked if he has taken this nomination as confirmation that there are no rigorous metrics for OTT success, Kapur replied that it is a validation for the team who worked so hard. Having their work acknowledged on such a global stage is uplifting. However, the most important factor is the audience's approval, starting with the knowledge that they appreciated it.
Sandeep Modi adapted the British television serial The Night Manager (2016), a crime thriller series, from the 1993 novel by John Le Carre. This series features the acting talents of Anil Kapoor, Aditya Roy Kapur, and Sobhita Dhulipala, and supporting roles from Tillotama Shome, Ravi Behl, and Saswata Chatterjee.
On February 16, 2023, The Night Manager Part 1 debuted on Disney+ Hotstar. Part 2 became available on June 29, 2023. The story follows ex-soldier Shaan Sengupta (Aditya Roy Kapur) as he infiltrates the inner circle of an arms dealer (Anil Kapoor) to bring down his empire of war.
