The movie, which also has Shine Tom Chacko, Prashant Alexanader and Jayapalan in pivotal roles, is currently in its final stages of post production
Director Jijo Antony is currently wrapping up work on his most ambitious project yet – Adithattu. The film, starring Sunny Wayne, Shine Tom Chacko, Prashanth Alexander and Jayapalan, was shot almost entirely at sea.
The action-thriller, which is in its final stages of post production, is set to hit theatres in May, according to reports. Apart from two scenes, the movie is shot entirely at sea – making it arguably the first Malayalam film to do so. It revolves around eight fishermen from Neendakara who journey into the sea on a boat named India.
The shoot of the movie had wrapped up last year with the team shooting at areas in the Arabian sea near Thangassery, Kappil and Varkala. In an earlier interview with OTTplay, Jijo, who had previously helmed Prithviraj’s Darwinte Parinamam and Kunchacko Boban’s Konthayum Poonoolum, had talked about the challenges of shooting an entire film at sea.
The team had shot the movie when the trawling ban was enforced last year. “There was rain and the sea was tumultuous too. The shoot was risky because if someone fell off the boat, that was it,” he said. The cast and crew had shot for almost a month.
While it’s no doubt that the film will present a unique visual experience for the Malayali audience, with Pappino as its cinematographer and Richard Antony supervising the underwater photography. Scripted by Khais Millen, the movie also marks Jijo’s second collaboration with Sunny after Pokkiri Simon in 2017.
Meanwhile, Sunny, who was last seen in Dulquer Salmaan’s Kurup, has a slew of releases lined up including Adithattu. He will next be seen in Appan and is also part of Kannan Thamarakulam’s political thriller Varal as well as Sanjith Chandrasenan’s thriller Thrayam. The actor has also completed shooting for Rajeev Ravi’s Kuttavum Shikshayum.
