The trailer for Prabhas starrer Adipurush has received mixed reactions.
The teaser for Adipurush, starring Prabhas, was a big disaster. Filmmaker Om Raut would not have imagined even in his wild dreams that the teaser would invoke such extreme reactions from all corners. The teaser became a unifying matter as people across the party lines came together to criticise the poor quality of the special effects. And the reactions were so strong that they forced the director and his crew back into the drawing room and come out with a better version of the movie.
The trailer for Adipurush carried an immense responsibility. It presented an opportunity to restore public confidence in the film and reshape their opinions about it. The success of the trailer played a critical role in determining the movie's fate at the box office, making it a crucial litmus test for the film. And the filmmakers were forced to postpone the release of the movie by six months as they got busy working on the special effects. Significant time, effort, and resources were invested in creating a compelling and engaging trailer that could capture the audience's attention and generate positive buzz around the film.

The positive aspect of the trailer was that it did not elicit as strong a reaction as the teaser did. The movie's colour palette underwent a significant change, with the filmmakers opting for muted colours instead of bright ones. Additionally, they increased the number of CGI shots to make the film appear more dynamic. Despite these efforts, many fans still seemed only partially convinced, with some quick to point out that the cosmetic changes were an attempt to conceal the movie's original flaws.
On a reddit thread, some claimed that the special effects in Adipurush trailer reminded them of Brahmastra, starring Ranbir Kapoor. Even though the movie was criticised for lack of a strong narrative arch, the special effects in Brahmastra garnered positive reviews from everyone. "Went from bow to bowastra," write a user on reddit.
"They brahmastra’d it up," said the other.
"Put it in the oven for a year more and it can be truly great," suggested another.
However, some were also happy with the improvements in the special effects. "They really improved it. I thought it was gone case after the teaser but it's looking good. Not great but watchable," said a reddit user.
It remains to be seen whether these changes will be sufficient to win over the audience and ensure the film's success.
Adipurush is based on the Indian epic Ramayana. It has been adapted for the big screen by Om Raut. Besides Prabhas, the movie also stars Kriti Sanon and Saif Ali Khan. Adipurush will debut in cinemas on June 16 after its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival.
