Adipurush, directed by Om Raut, is a mythological film, based on the epic Ramayana
Those who were eagerly awaiting an update from Om Raut's upcoming film Adi Purush, were in for a surprise when the makers unveiled a poster from the film this morning and announced that the teaser would be released by 7.11pm today. Adi Purush is a mythological film based on the Ramayana and it stars Prabhas (as Ram/ Raghava), Kriti Sanon (Sita/ Janaki) and Saif (Raavan/Lankesh). The teaser was released at a grand launch function at Ayodhya today, which is considered the birthplace of Lord Ram. The entire team is said to be present at the event and the video is said to be unveiled on the banks of Sarayu river.
Meanwhile, the teaser which is over a minute and 40 seconds, was released on social media. It opens with Prabhas (Ram) meditating under water and later vanquishing some creatures that came to attack him with his arrow. Saif Ali Khan, who plays Raavan, an ardent devotee of Lord Shiva, is seen displaying his might with his ten heads and later riding a mythical creature that resembles a dragon, reminding us of the Mad Queen Daenerys Targaryen in Game of Thrones. We also get a glimpse of Sita (Kriti Sanon) and Ram spending some good time in a garden and later the Vaanar Sena and Hanuman taking on Raavan's Lanka to rescue Sita, after she gets abducted by Raavan. The teaser seems to be VFX and CGI heavy, with some bits resembling an animation film, thus taking the sheen from the drama on screen. If the film is billed as a visual spectacle, the makers need to do some heavy-duty editing before the release.
Adipurush is said to be one of the most expensive ones made till date and it is helmed by Om Raut, who had earlier made the period action drama Tanhaji. The film has cinematography by Karthik Palani and editing by Apurva Motiwale. Music is by Sachet-Parampara. Adipurush has been bankrolled by Bhushan Kumar and is all set to hit screens on January 12, 2023 in IMAX and 3D. The film will be released in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam.
