Adipurush: Prabhas fans school director Om Raut and team for getting Telugu tweets wrong
Adipurush Telugu promotions go for a toss

Adipurush is one of the most awaited releases in Indian cinema this year. The retelling of the Ramayana is directed by Om Raut and stars Prabhas, Sunny Singh, Kriti Sanon, Saif Ali Khan. The film is all set to hit screens on June 16 across five languages - Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam. Produced by UV Creations, Retrophiles Pvt. Ltd and T Series, the promos and the songs of the mythological drama have witnessed mixed responses to date.

While the unveiling the poster of Devdatta Nage as Hanuman in Adipurush yesterday, the makers shared tweets across multiple languages to reach out to audiences. However, the team got the Telugu text in the promotional material completely wrong, leaving Prabhas fan’s furious across the globe. Ever since, Om Raut and team Adipurush have been on the receiving end for not even doing a basic effort to reach out to the Telugu market.

One look at the comments section and it’s quite obvious that the marketing team made use of an erroneous translation software for the Telugu text. “Do you even have sense ? Just verify the tweet before posting it. Do you even know the mistake ?@omraut..delete this tweet….” a fan wrote, while a portal blamed the team for ‘continuously ignoring Telugu from the start’ in their descriptions on posters.

A film buff went onto share, ‘@omraut annayya the fact that you cannot get a single sentence translated properly is an indication of the quality of your work.’ A fan used Prabhas’ viral image during the teaser launch and talked on the star’s behalf to say, ‘Om, you are coming to my room. I have to teach you Telugu the old way. A cane is also ready.’ Another factor that contributed to the fan’s agony was the lack of response from the team in the last 12 hours and the absence of any apology.

Both the songs released to date - Jai Shri Ram and Ram Sita Ram - are replete with an undeniable Hindi flavour. There’s no doubt that it’s high time that Adipurush makers undertake correct measures with only two weeks left for its release. Made on a budget of over Rs 500 crore, the film has reportedly recovered Rs 432 crore from non-theatrical revenue already.
