In an exclusive chat with OTTplay, Adah Sharma talked about how she never dreamt of being a part of a film that could earn 300 crore at the box office.

Adah Sharma is a versatile actress who has appeared in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, and Kannada films. Her most recent film, The Kerala Story, has garnered news and became one of the most talked-about movies of the year, the movie is based on the purported phenomena of "love jihad" and the recruitment of Hindu and Christian women by the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS). The movie has also been extremely profitable, earning over 300 crore globally and ranking as the third-highest-grossing Hindi movie of 2023. It is one of the most popular movies of the year.

In an exclusive chat with OTTplay, Adah Sharma talked about how she never dreamt of being a part of a film that could earn 300 crore at the box office. The actress also talked about how overwhelmed she is that people accepted her film as theirs.

She said: “I didn’t ever think of myself being a part of a film that does 300 crore. That was not my dream, I didn’t even think I had the right to dream so big. I never thought it was going to happen in this lifetime at least. I thought like Shah Rukh Khan, I’ll have to be reborn like Om Shaanti Om and then maybe I’ll get an opportunity like that. But it’s great it happened and audience want good content so whatever reasons you give before, after, during, around but eventually you can see what’s working and what’s not."

Adah added, "What feels the best, leaving everything aside is that people took personally interest in my film. They promoted it like their film and everyone may have successes but my success was so big because every girl in India took it as her film, more than mine, it was their film."

The Kerala Story actress is now all set for her new show, 'Commando', which is releasing on Disney Plus Hotstar on 11th August. While talking about how she managed to get into the character of her web show after delivering a hard-hitting performance in The Kerala Story, she said, “Ek me mai guns se darr rahi thi, mai ek aisi ladki thi vaha (The Kerala Story) jise pata nahi tha ye guns use kar rahe hai log, I was so scared and here mai confidently encounter specialist bani hoon. I think mai bahot fortunate hoon that in the same year, in the span of two months, I could have two releases jaha par mai itne alag alag kirdaar nibha rahi hoon.”

Meanwhile, talking about The Kerala Story, Sudipto Sen, who has directed documentaries on numerous social topics in the past, is the director of the movie. Vipul Amrutlal Shah, who is also the film's creative director, produced the movie. Suryapal Singh, Sudipto Sen, and Vipul Amrutlal Shah wrote the script for the movie. On May 5, 2023, the movie was released in theatres.
