The much-awaited series of the actor-filmmaker Sudhanshu Rai’s thriller series Detective Boomrah has finally got a release date.
The series also stars Shobhit Sujay, Abhishek Sonpaliya, Priyanka Sarkar, Akhlaq Ahmad Azad, Manisha Sharma and Garima Rai. It is backed by Saints Art and will consist of different cases, the first one being The Missing Man.
The series will premiere on YouTube before an OTT release. Sudhanshu Rai will be seen in the titular role and actor Raghav Jhingran will reportedly play the role of his partner Sam. According to Indian Express, the first case Missing Man is about a man who jumps from the terrace of a hotel and vanishes mysteriously into thin air.
The producers have issued a statement. Talking about the series, they said, “After other sleuths fail to find his whereabouts, Detective Boomrah and his partner Sam begin their chase to unravel the mystery.”
The producer further added that Boomrah and Sam find what others fail to notice. The makers are confident about meeting the expectations of the audience and fans with a concept and content that they say are 'something never seen on Indian screens before'.
Puneet Sharma, director at Saints Art, said the fictional character of Detective Boomrah fills the gap of “contemporary detectives in literary or motion arts”. He said that most characters that audience get to see are classic, fit into the contemporary but with Boomrah, they'd be seeing a detective who's modern and content for the first time. "He's extremely intriguing and entertaining at the same time,” Sharma said.
Written by Sudhanshu Rai and Sharma, the series is co-directed and creative produced by Anant Rai.
The series is set to be released on January 21, 2022.
