Actor Bhaswar Chatterjee raises the alarm regarding misusing his name

It is not now to see celebrities’ names and photos being used by frauds to fool common people. On Monday, Bhaswar Chatterjee raises the alarm against one such social media post. The actor expressed his displeasure by sharing the viral poster on social media. He also tagged the Kolkata Police page and a television channel that is mentioned in the poster and cautioned them.

On the viral poster, it was written in large font, ‘Audition for upcoming serial’. Along with Bhaswar, Chandan Sen, Maitri Sen, Ambarish Bhattacharya, and Paran Bandyopadhyay’s pictures are also used. It is written, “Those willing to give an audition, please send your names, addresses, and photos. If you can’t act, we will train you.”

In an interview with Anandabazar Online, Bhaswar said, “I am dumbfounded. They were audacious enough not to contact me or seek my permission. A veteran actor like Paran Bandyopadhyay’s name is used who is not on social media. Ambarish, Maitri di, and I are on social media and hence noticed it.” How can the audience know what is real and what is fraudulent, especially nowadays when social media gives rise to many such nexuses? Bhaswar answered, “We can only post on social media. My post has been noted by many, and hopefully, the culprit will be caught.”

A popular TV channel’s logo was also used in the poster. Bhaswar warned not to take the matter lightly and said that it was a criminal act. “I tagged the channel. I think the police should be informed,” the actor said.
