Actor Ammy Virk on being a part of Bhuj: The Pride of India and Ranveer’s ‘83

Ammy Virk, a reputed actor in the Punjabi film industry debuted in Hindi cinema with Bhuj: The Pride of India. Although the war drama did not receive much attention, Ammy Virk is still happy that his role got noticed in the movie.

Bhuj: The Pride of India is a war drama directed by Abhishek Dudhaiya starring Ajay Devgn as real-life Indian Air Force Squadron Leader Vijay Karnik, who with the help of 300 tribal women, rebuilt the bombarded IAF base in Bhuj during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971.

Ammy Virk plays Flight Lieutenant Vikram Singh Baj Jethaaz, an aide of Ajay Devgn’s character. The movie, upon its release, received heavy criticism due to the cliched treatment of a weak plot with several inconsistencies.

Yet, Ammy Virk is not disappointed by the responses. He is more positive than ever. The actor said to Spotboye, “Though the film didn’t work much, my character got really good appreciation. Whatever the critics have written, which I read and saw through my PR team, the response was really good.”

The actor also asked his fans to wait for him to improve as an actor. Ammy Virk will also appear in the Ranveer Singh starrer 83, directed by Kabir Khan. The movie is based on the 1983 Cricket World Cup in which India beat West Indies under the captainship of Kapil Dev. Ammy Virk will be playing the role of cricketer Balwinder Sandhu in the same. The movie was supposed to release last year and was to mark Ammy Virk’s grand debut in Bollywood but got rescheduled due to the pandemic.
