The film, also featuring Kajal Aggarwal and Pooja Hegde as the female leads, is written and directed by Koratala Siva
When the father-son duo Ram Charan and Chiranjeevi join hands for a film, it is an unparalleled 'event' without doubt. Acharya, the action entertainer, couldn't have come at a better time for 'Mega' fans than April 29, bringing together Ram Charan, fresh from the success of RRR, and Chiranjeevi for the third time on the big screen after brief appearances in Bruce Lee, Magadheera. Directed by Koratala Siva, Acharya has Kajal Aggarwal, Pooja Hegde playing the female leads. The film's trailer was launched both on the big screen and Youtube today.
The backdrop of the story is set in Padhaghattam, a small village between a holy water body and a dense forest. Don't mistake those in Dharmasthali (in Padhaghattam) to be merely God-fearing and peace-loving, warns Ram Charan's character Siddha, as he says the place is full of people who could go to any length to guard it from trouble. A bunch of notorious goons attack people and their traditions in Dharmasthali and it takes the arrival of Acharya, Siddha's good-old friend, to restore the pride of the place.
Chiranjeevi as Acharya signals his arrival in Dharmasthali in style with arresting action sequences and informs the baddie, played by Sonu Sood, that he's only shown a sample of what he's capable of. The intense background score later leads to a flashback portion establishing the bond between Siddha and Acharya, naxal leaders in the past. While Ram Charan sets the tone for the trailer with his brilliant voice-over, it's the presence of Chiranjeevi that ignites fire into the proceedings.
Produced by Niranjan Reddy, Anvesh Reddy under Matinee Entertainment in collaboration with Konidela Productions, Acharya has music by Mani Sharma. S Thirunavukkarasu has cranked the camera for the film while Navin Nooli is the editor. Ramajogayya Sastry, Bhaskarabhatla, Ananth Sriram and Kalyan Chakravarthi have penned the lyrics in the album. The technical crew also includes production designer Suresh Selvarajan, stunt directors Ram-Laxman and Vijay.
