The buzz on social media is that the Duniya Suri directorial is targeting a June 9 theatrical outing
Abishek Ambareesh, the son of late Rebel Star Ambareesh and actress-politician Sumalatha, had debuted in Kannada cinema with the Nagashekar directed Amar way back in 2019. The film, which was reportedly a script that the filmmaker had pitched and even started to launch Vikram Ravichandran as Novemberalli Nanu Avalu, was rechristened as Amar and packaged for Abishek instead. The film, though, tanked at the box office and did not give the star son the opening he was looking for. By the time the actor began planning his next move, the pandemic struck and when he eventually announced what his second film would be, it had audiences across board, and not just his fans, excited.
Abishek had decided to collaborate with Duniya Suri on a film called Bad Manners, which was widely seen as a relaunch of sorts for him. The Young Rebel Star, as the actor is known, plays a police officer in the film, in which he is paired with Rachita Ram and newcomer Priyanka Kumar. The film has been ready for a while and the team has begun releasing songs, starting with the title track sung by Usha Uthup and the more recent Saraayi song. Bad Manners has music composer Charan Raj reuniting with Tagaru maker Suri yet again.
The latest we hear is that the team has zeroed in on a release date for the film. After a rather lacklustre May, which will barely see any films in theatres owing to the Karnataka state elections, and, of course, the IPL, team Bad Manners is toying with the idea of June 9 as the D-day. A final confirmation is expected shortly.
Abishek meanwhile, is currently working on his next, a period love drama by director-cinematographer S Krishna, called Kaali. The film pairs him with Kantara fame Sapthami Gowda. Thereafter, he will collaborate with Madhagaja director S Mahesh Kumar.
