The special track was released on the 71st birth anniversary of Ambareesh
Rebel Star Ambareesh’s 71st birthday is being celebrated all around Karnataka with great gusto. Very recently, the makers of Antha, arguably the most memorable outing in Ambareesh’s career, re-released the film on May 26 in a completely revised technical format.
Antha, the action thriller directed by Rajendra Singh Babu in 1981, has the Rebel Star in a Salim-Javed-like dual role as both a righteous police officer and a menacing ganglord. Ambareesh’s flamboyant portrayal of the two distinct characters further strengthened his ‘anti-hero’ image and made him a generational superstar along with Vishnuvardhan and the likes. The film’s ‘Kutte, Kanwar Nahi Kanwarlal Bolo’ dialogue still echoes in the minds of film lovers.
And to honour his late actor on his birth anniversary, Ambareesh’s Abishek Ambareesh and the team of ‘Bad Manners’ have released a special single titled ‘Rebel Gift’. What can be considered a tribute to the superstar and former member of parliament, the 47-second video song reveals Abishek in great spirits as he grooves to Charan Raj’s score alone with a huge group of background dancers. Duniya Suri’s unique vision is another highlight of the song and several comments on YouTube have professed their eagerness to watch the film as soon as possible on the big screen.
Bad Manners, a trademark Suri action thriller, has Abishek Ambareesh in the role of a ruthless cop called Rudra and the film is firmly placed in the gangster/underworld milieu. Priyanka Kumar, Rachita Ram, Thara, Sharath Lohithashwa and others, too, are part of the cast. The film is expected to release either in June or July in theatres.
