As per a latest report, the Oscar committee officials have already has started their search for that particular Indian film that will qualify for The Oscars
And it’s ‘almost’ that time of the year when the filmmakers tend to keep their fingers crossed and with a prayer that their film should be selected as India’s entry at the prestigious Oscars. As per a report in E Times, it's being said that the Oscar committee officials have already started their work in order to process the films which are worthy enough to qualify as India's official entry at the globally prestigious Oscar Awards. As a part of this selection, it has been reported that, there will be as many as 20 entries which will be received from all across India.
The same news added that, as per a source-based report, that, as of now, there are two films which have already made the cut. And these two films are the Adah Sharma starrer ‘The Kerala Story’ and Abhishek Bachchan and Saiyami Kher starrer ‘Ghoomer’. As for ‘The Kerala Story’, it had not just been a trendsetter of sorts, but also a path breaking film ever since the time it got released. The film ‘The Kerala Story’ was directed by Sudipto Sen, went onto become one of the blockbuster hits at the box office.
And, as far as the Abhishek Bachchan and Saiyami Kher starrer ‘Ghoomer’, even though its box office collections were not at par with ‘The Kerala Story’, the film did manage to garner a decent collection at the box-office. More importantly, the film ‘Ghoomer’ also became one of the most widely appreciated films of recent times, thanks to a ‘spell-binding’ performance by Saiyami Kher. Even the cricketing legend like Sachin Tendulkar had promoted the film along with Saiyami Kher.
The said news report also added that, besides ‘The Kerala Story’ and ‘Ghoomer’, there is one more film that seems like an extremely strong contender for the Oscars. And the film is Ananth Mahadevan’s ‘Storyteller’, which has been based on the late Satyajit Ray’s short story.
