Actor Abhimanyu Singh has been roped in to play the role of an antagonist in Rajkumar Santoshi's Lahore: 1947. It stars Sunny Deol in the lead role.

After working on films like Ghayal, Ghatak, and more, Sunny Deol and Rajkumar Santoshi have reunited for a film titled Lahore: 1947. It is said to be a partition drama based on the cult play Jis Lahore Nai Dekhya O Jamyai Nai by Asghar Wajahat. The impressive star cast of the film reportedly includes Shabana Azmi, Mona Singh, and Preity Zinta. Joining them is actor Abhimanyu Singh, who is reportedly on board as the antagonist of the film.

Abhimanyu Singh vs. Sunny Deol in Lahore: 1947?

According to a Pinkvilla report, filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi roped in Abhimanyu Singh as the negative lead for Lahore: 1947. The director attempts to bring the era of hero vs. villain back in a big way with his upcoming venture. Although Santoshi contemplated several names for the antagonist, he eventually decided to cast Abhimanyu for the character.

The report suggests Singh's role is that of a strong character who will engage in a battle royale with Sunny Deol's character all through the film. Abhimanyu is likely to join Sunny and the team of Lahore: 1947 soon on the set. For those who are unaware, the film went on floors on February 12, and multiple schedules of Lahore: 1947 will go on until May 2024. At present, the makers of the film have recreated the Lahore of the 1940s at Madh Island in Mumbai.

Meanwhile, the buzz is that the makers of Lahore: 1947 are eyeing a Republic Day 2025 release. However, they have yet to make an official announcement about the same. As far as the music of the movie is concerned, AR Rahman has worked on it as well as the background. Javed Akhtar, on the other hand, will pen the lyrics to the songs. As for Santosh Sivan, he has come on board as the director of photography.
