Malayalam star Fahadh Faasil’s Aavesham, which had its OTT release last month on Amazon Prime Video, will now begin streaming in Tamil too. As per reports, the makers of the film have already censored the Tamil version of the blockbuster, which is already the highest-grossing movie featuring the Pushpa star.

Unlike other Malayalam movies, Aavesham had dropped on Amazon Prime Video in May but only in the original language. This is in line with its theatrical release, which also hit the big screens only in Malayalam. That said, the movie did go on to set box-office records in Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka despite releasing only in the original language.

Stream Fahadh Faasil's best movies in 20 OTT platforms including SunNXT, aha, ManoramaMAX, ZEE5 and more at just ₹75.

While most of the audience would have already watched the original film, Aavesham Tamil dubbed version is set to release on Amazon Prime Video as early as June 21, 2024, as per reports.

Fahadh Faasil prefers to release movies only in Malayalam

Incidentally, Fahadh, who is also the co-producer of the film, isn’t a huge fan of dubbing his movies in other languages just for the pan-Indian reach. In an earlier interview with OTTplay, Fahadh said that he prefers the audience to watch his movies in the language that it is originally made in; this is to ensure that the people also understand the specifics and rootedness of these movies that would allow it to travel across the country.

In the case of Aavesham, which is set almost entirely in Bengaluru, the rationale might not apply. The movie, which also stars Sajin Gopu, Mansoor Ali Khan and Hipster, revolves around a trio of college students who befriend a gangster to get back at their seniors. However, their friendship with the gangster leads to more than what they bargained for.

Fahadh Faasil’s Aavesham to get a sequel?

The film, which is helmed by Jithu Madhavan, teases a sequel with Fahadh’s character Ranga’s past. The actor himself, in a few interviews, had mentioned that he would like to reprise the role to trace the past of his character and most importantly, to team up with Sajin Gopu, who played his sidekick Amban.
