Aashram brought actor Bobby Deol back in the limelight.
Prakash Jha spoke about his web series Aashram at the recently held Goafest 2022. The filmmaker compared the Bobby Deol series with the biggest cricket tournament – IPL. Prakash said that his show is bigger than even IPL.
While talking to renowned journalist Mayank Shekhar at Goafest, the director compared his series Aashram and IPL. While stating that Aashram is the most viewed web series in the world with 1.6 billion views, he continued saying that his show is double the size of IPL.
Prakash was talking about his journey from making documentaries to the web series. He is currently preparing for the third season of the show. The release date for Aashram 3 has not been unveiled yet and neither has the trailer of the web series released but it is expected to be out soon.
When asked about not being a part of TV debates when he faced stone-pelting (hinted at Aashram), Prakash Jha said that he was prepared to face it while making the project. “When I make such movies or shows, it feels like the moment you touch society’s nerves by giving honest opinions, people will raise objections,” he said.
Aashram narrates the story of Baba Nirala, played by Bobby Deol. The series had portrayed a saint (at least that’s what people assumed him to be) who was far from leaving all ‘moh maaya.’ He had been running a scandal under his name and would get everything he wants. Forced intimacy with him, drugging his people, looting everyone was a common sight at Baba Nirala’s Aashram.
With his immense power, Baba Nirala took control of everyone and everything around him. However, this time he faces tough competition and his truth might just be exposed. The third season will delve deeper into what fate has in store for this Baba.
