The series, directed by Prakash Jha, also stars Aaditi Pohankar, Esha Gupa and Tridha Choudhury.
The third season of Aashram is finally here, continuing the dreaded saga of Bobby Deol’s Baba Nirala. Chandan Roy Sanyal also shares the screen with Deol, the former essaying the role of Bhopa Swamy. Sanyal opened up about how the show became a turning point in his life, and brought in many opportunities for him in his career,
In conversation with Firstpost, Sanyal talked about how ‘frustrated and fed up’ he had become in his film career, as most of his roles were ‘short lived’. The actor talked about how he had to work hard to prepare for them, only for them to be ‘blink and miss kinds’. But OTTs offered him much more screen time to really showcase his acting skills, and enough time to ‘live and create’ a character.
The actor revealed that his part in Aashram 3 had opened up more career opportunities for him, as he was being offered roles he did not get before. Directors had called him up for parts they would not have usually considered him for. Sanyal said that the offers were purely based on his acting prowess, as he was not a social media star. “I am purely hidden behind my acting and even mediate with my acting”, he said.
On his role in Aashram, Sanyal said that with season 3, he had a lot more to offer as an actor. He said he had thought more and added more ‘dimensions’ to his character with the help of director Prakash Jha. The actor said that Jha had imagined Bhopa ‘beautifully’ even in the show’s third season.
Aashram 3 is available to stream on MX Player.
