Earlier today, Aditi Prabhudeva’s supernatural thriller Aana, in which she plays the title role, dropped on an OTT platform. The film, directed by Manoj P Madulamane, which had made it to theatres on December 17, has come to Amazon Prime Video, just over a month later. When it released, the film had opened to favourable reviews, especially for Aditi’s convincing act as a vigilante superhero.

Director Manoj’s film was set amid the pandemic, at a time when people were losing their jobs and could not find alternate means to a livelihood. The film focuses on a group of software professionals, who, when faced with unemployment, decide to kidnap two young girls to make a quick buck. One of these girls turns out to be Aana (Aditi), the daughter of a businessman Naga Varma (Sunil Puranik). The gang soon realises that they messed with the wrong girl, when Aana begins exhibiting supernatural powers. The film teases the possibility of a new superhero in town and that a sequel is on the cards.

Prior to the film’s release, Aditi, who is currently one of Kannada cinema’s busiest actresses, had said that her decision to do films as diverse as Aana is about staying away from roles that only require her to be cute and provide the necessary glam factor. The actress had stated that she looks our for films in which she will be more than just a decorative prop, even if that meant being part of only 5% of the movies being made in Sandalwood.

Aana also stars Ranveer Shivkumar, Vikash Uttaiah, Samarth Narasimharaju, Varun Amaravathi, Karthik Nagarajan and Prerna Kambam. The film has music by Rithvik Muralidhar and cinematography by Uday Leela.
