Competition for the Christmas 2024 weekend is decreasing. Reports now suggest that Aamir Khan's highly anticipated film Sitaare Zameen Par will likely face a delay, allowing Hollywood's Mufasa: The Lion King to debut independently on December 20, 2024.

Delay in release of Sitaare Zameen Par

According to reports in Peeping Moon, it seems that R.S. Prasanna won't be able to finish the sports comedy by the deadline, which means it won't release before Christmas as initially planned. The producers haven't decided regarding the delay, but rumours suggest the film won't be released in December. Aamir loves the film's progress and can't wait to show it. But the superstar wants to do a lot more with it in post-production, and he's a perfectionist at heart, so he'd rather hold out on releasing it than settle for less than ideal. An insider claims that Sitaare Zameen Par will experience a minimum three-month delay.

Another factor raising questions about the delay is that Jio Studios, which is also producing Sitaare Zameen Par plans to release Baby John, starring Varun Dhawan, on December 25, 2024—the same highly anticipated Christmas weekend. Production issues delayed Welcome to the Jungle, starring Akshay Kumar, making Aamir Khan's film the second big Bollywood blockbuster to miss the Christmas schedule.

Plot and cast of Sitaare Zameen Par

An ostentatious and self-absorbed basketball coach builds a Special Olympics team comprised of intellectually handicapped athletes as a component of his community service term in the highly lauded Spanish film Campeones which was adapted into an Indian film called Sitaare Zameen Par. The film follows a traditional plot arc, with Aamir Khan's character developing as he gains wisdom from his experiences and rethinks what it means to be "normal." Real-life athletes with disabilities, including Genelia Deshmukh as the female lead, enhance the story's realism in the supporting cast.
