Aamir Khan is readying for the release of his Forrest Gump remake, Laal Singh Chaddha, on August 11.
Aamir Khan held a press interaction on his 57th birthday yesterday, where he shared an update on the Hindi remake of the 2018 Spanish comedy-drama Campeones among other things.
According to PTI there were speculations that Khan would star in the remake to be helmed by Shubh Mangal Saavdhan director RS Prasanna.
During the meeting, Khan seemed surprised that the plans of the project were already known. "I haven’t announced my next film yet. How did you get to know? Planning is on. I’ll let you know soon." he said.
Campeones (Champions) is a comedy about a man, who after being penalised for drunk driving, is court-mandated to coach a basketball team that has players with developmental disabilities. The film went on to win three of Spain's prestigious Goya Awards including Best Picture.
Meanwhile, Khan will return to the big screen with Laal Singh Chaddha the official Hindi remake of Tom Hanks' 1994 drama Forrest Gump. The film also stars Kareena Kapoor Khan and will mark their onscreen reunion after 3 Idiots.
Laal Singh Chaddha went on floors in 2020 and after some pandemic-led hiccups, was finally wrapped in last year. It was shot across 100 locations in the country.
The actor also spoke about his excitement to share Laal Singh Chaddha with moviegoers soon. "I think now we will get the time to finish our film the way we had intended to now that it’s coming out on August 11. We are trying to make a good film," said Khan.
The Hindi drama is helmed by Advait Chandan, who made his directorial debut with the 2017 musical drama Secret Superstar starring Khan with Zaira Wasim. Atul Kulkarni has co-written the adaptation with Chandan.
