Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan along with actor Vishnu Vishal and his family, found themselves trapped in the floods resulting from Cyclone Michaung in Chennai. On Tuesday, they had to be rescued by boat from the inundated surroundings.

Vishnu Vishal shared the photos of Aamir Khan navigating the flooded Chennai streets on an inflatable boat and later posing with rescue workers upon reaching safety.

"Thanks to the fire and rescue department in helping people like us who are stranded. Rescue operations have started in karapakkam..

Saw 3 boats functioning already Great work by TN govt in such testing times. Thanks to all the administrative people who are working relentlessly," tweeted Vishnu Vishal, who earlier in the day posted a distress message from his flooded home.

"Water is entering my house and the level is rising badly in karapakkam I have called for help No electricity no wifi No phone signal Nothing," read Vishnu Vishal's SOS post on the internet.

Interestingly, at that time, it wasn't known that Aamir Khan was also among those stranded in his house. The Laal Singh Chaddha star had relocated to Chennai to be close to his ailing mother, Zeenat Hussain, who is currently undergoing medical treatment in the city.

It's noteworthy that Amair has become a constant presence in several high-profile events in Chennai. He earlier attended the birthday celebrations of Tamil superstar Kamal Haasan. He also celebrated the Deepavali holiday in Chennai with Kamal and Vishnu Vishal.

Due to the relentless rains unleashed by the cyclone, Chennai city has come to a standstill. The prevailing grave situation highlights the fragile infrastructure and is reminiscent of the devastating Chennai floods of 2015.

The members of the Tamil film fraternity have been doing their bit to help the relief efforts of the government. Meanwhile, some have criticised the government for failing to improve the city's storm water drain system.
