Aamir Khan had to cut down his originally scheduled shoot for his upcoming movie Sitaare Zameen Par in Delhi. The actor went ahead with his schedule for other shoot locations, but not for Delhi. Not just Aamir, many movies have either removed their Delhi schedule or cut it down. There’s a valid reason for the same, which was revealed by HT City.

Why was Sitaare Zameen Par Delhi schedule cut down?

Aamir Khan reduced his original Sitaare Zameen Par Delhi schedule down from a month to just 8-10 days. The shoot will take place in Delhi, a source confirmed.

This is because, as a source reveals, shooting at Rajiv Chowk metro station costs Rs. 2 lakhs per hour. A producer shared that it does not end at that. One has to pay Rs. 8 lakhs to DMRC, Rs. 2.36 lakhs to New Delhi Municipal Corporation, Rs. 1 lakh to the parking guys and Rs. 2 lakhs to the Delhi police for security. This, one can imagine, is a costly affair.

Shooting at the International airport also costs Rs. 12 lakhs for four hours (3 lakhs per hour). Even Chandni Chowk, which would earlier be available for shoot in Rs. 25,000 a day now costs Rs. 4 lakhs a day.

Jolly LLB 3, Uljah shift base to other places

Many films have taken the approach of recreating sets. Akshay Kumar-Arshad Warsi’s Jolly LLB 3 was also supposed to be shot in Delhi but was shifted to Ajmer.

Janhvi Kapoor’s Uljah will be shot in Bhopal. The makers might think about recreating Delhi there itself, if not shift the story to fit into Bhopal’s lifestyle.

Recreating sets is more cost-effective

Instead of shooting in Delhi, Ajay Devgn’s Raid 2 makers are recreating the sets in Lucknow. A source from the production team informs that the film was shot in Delhi for four days. This includes India Gate. The makers then shifted base to Lucknow, where the shooting will go on for 47 days.

Not just Raid 2, Aanand L. Rai’s Nakhrewaalii is also being shot in Lucknow, with recreated sets. They shot for 40 days. “They wanted to shoot in a bungalow in Barakhamba Road that’d cost them Rs. 1 lakh a day. Aanand got that for Rs. 30,000 in Lucknow,” the source reveals. Thus, it looks like the makers will shift their base to any place other than Delhi soon.
