Aafat-e-Ishq: TV actor Garima Jain on breaking moulds and experimenting with roles and genres in the OTT space

Synopsis: Garima Jain will be seen as the one carrying out a heist in a bank in the Neha Sharma starrer web film Aafat-e-Ishq.

Television actor Garima Jain is tapping further into the OTT space to experiment with a variety of genres and roles across streaming platforms. The actor has popularly been a part of TV shows like Vikram Betaal Ki Rahasya Gatha Kavach Navrangi Re!, Kaali Shaktiyon Se, Shakti: Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki and more. And she has broken her TV mould with her roles in web series like Gandii Baat-4, XXX and Mastram.

Speaking to Hindustan Times, the actor said that every role is different, be it donning the role of a don in the series Prayag Raj a village belle with a mind of her own in Raktanchal 2, starring in the murder mystery horror series Death Tales or carrying out a heist in the film Aafat-e-Ishq, that has Tum Bin 2 actor Neha Sharma in the lead role.

Garima Jain said that after sliding into ‘bold’ roles in the OTT space from her ‘girl-next-door' image in TV, she wants to break away from that ‘bold’ image too. She had her hands full with work since the unlock phase of the previous year, with projects lined up and is in a ‘happy space.’ The fact that doing adult shows while minding the difference between ‘unnecessary skin show and required bold content,’ kept her at work and up and about.

The actor, who was last seen in Twisted is awaiting a slew of releases such as the web series Dongri to Dubai. “With every project, people will get to see a different side of me as an actor,” she told the daily.

Garima is in Lucknow currently, wrapping up the shoot of the web film Aafat-e-Ishq. She described the heist film as a ‘small desi version of Money Heist,’ where the team has set their target on a bank. The Zee5 film, directed by Indrajit Nattoji, is her second project shot in Lucknow since the pandemic after The Prayag Raj. It is currently streaming on the platform.
