The highly anticipated survival drama, Aadujeevitham, in which Prithviraj Sukumaran plays the lead, is all set for its big premiere this week. The film, helmed by well-known director Blessy, is scheduled to open in theatres on March 28. In India, pre-booking for the film began yesterday, March 24.

But according to recent updates, Aadujeevitham will not be released worldwide on March 28. Due to censorship concerns, the movie will not be released in all GCC nations, such as Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Kuwait, as previously scheduled. Insiders close to the project say the makers are yet to submit an application for a censor certificate. The film is expected to debut in theatres in these countries during the first or second week of April.

Aadujeevitham to release in the UAE on March 28

Sources confirm that the film will be released in theatres on the specified date in the UAE. More than eighteen locations, including City Centre Ajman, Al Hamra Mall in Ras AL Khaimah, and Abu Dhabi Mall in Abu Dhabi, have started accepting pre-bookings for Aadujeevitham. Starting at 12 noon on Thursday (March 28), City Centre Sharjah will present ten screenings throughout the day.

Ban on Aadujeevitham book

The Malayalam survival thriller is based on the bestselling novel by Benyamin. Two Gulf nations outlawed the Arabic translation of Benyamin's novel some years ago. "It contains nothing that is offensive to any nation or religion, therefore, I am not sure why it is prohibited. Human suffering is the central theme," Benyamin had said in a conversation with Gulf Daily News. According to the author, he had hoped that the story would resonate with Arabic-speaking readers and provide them a glimpse into the lives of others.

"It created a picture of inhumane activities occurring in some parts of the world," he stated. Benyamin had earlier said that he hoped the nations that banned the book would reconsider and lift the restrictions. Before the book's release at the Riyadh Book Fair, it was prohibited in Arabic.
