Aachar & Co, directed by Sindhu Sreenivasa Murthy, is releasing in theatres on July 28. It is the latest presentation from PRK Productions
Aachar & Co is a film that was greenlit back when Power Star Puneeth Rajkumar was still around. He’d liked the pitch by writer-director Sindhu Sreenivasa Murthy, but there was no big announcement and no one but the team really knew about the film’s development until the teaser dropped a few weeks ago. That is when audiences suddenly sat up and took note that PRK Productions has a new film on hand.
While the teaser was quite intriguing, the trailer that followed was even better, as it introduced viewers to the family of Madhusudhan and Savitri Aachar and their 10 children in Bengaluru of the 1960s. What was refreshing about the trailer was that besides the nostalgia factor of a period film, Aachar & Co was also riding high on humour. This was reaffirmed when the first song from the film came out – Bengaluru Suprabhata – which became an instant hit.
And now, the team is ready to release the second song – the Pickle Song – before the film hits theatres. Composed by Bindhumalini, the song will drop on July 24. In a recent conversation with a food platform, Sindhu had confirmed that the film’s title reflects the connection to pickles, which is something that audiences would have to see in the film. Perhaps, the Pickle Song may shed light on this after all.
Aachar & Co has a vast cast lineup, including Ashok, Sudha Belawadi, Vamsidhar Bhogaraju, Sonu Venugopal, Anirudh Acharya, Harshil Koushik, among others. “The film is a coming-of-age story of 10 siblings in 1960s Bengaluru, a period when women started taking education and work very seriously. How these kids navigate their lives against this backdrop forms the crux of the film,” Sindhu has been quoted as saying.
