Aachar & Co is a PRK Production, written and directed by Sindhu Sreenivasa Murthy, who also plays the protagonist in the film
Sindhu Sreenivas Murthy was a rank newbie in cinema when she got a role in the PRK Production venture French Biriyani. Presented with the opportunity of a film produced by (late) Puneeth Rajkumar, she told him about a script she was working on and showed him a 6-minute showreel of the same with two scenes that she’d shot with actor pals from her theatre circle at actor Anirudh Acharya’s grandmother’s house. Puneeth was sold, but he also insisted that his wife Ashwini, who heads PRK Productions, read the screenplay that Sindhu had co-written with popular standup comedian Kanan Gill. Ashwini too loved the script and screenplay, but production on the film was delayed owing to Puneeth’s tragic passing in late 2021.
The film, which is releasing in theatres on July 28 as a KRG Studios presentation, is a tale set in 1960s Bengaluru and follows one particular family. Aachar & Co is a coming-of-age story about the children of Madhusudan and Savitri Aachar, focusing on how they cope with the loss of the family patriarch. The film stars Ashok, Sudha Belawadi, Harshil Koushik, Anirudh Acharya, Vamsidhar Bhogaraju, Sonu Venugopal and Sindhu, among others. The film has been shot completely in Mysuru, as Bengaluru’s current landscape is not feasible for a period film. Aachar & Co has Bindhumalini on board as music composer.
The film we hear has got a streaming partner on board prior to its theatrical outing, which has become a rarity in Kannada cinema. Amazon Prime Video will host the film after its theatrical run. A release date has not been announced.

The next film from PRK Productions is a medical thriller called O2, starring Ashika Ranganath, which will also be in theatres in 2023,
