King will team up with David E Kelley for the six-episode show
The long-time actress and Academy winner Regina King is gearing up to don the director’s hat again! Teaming up with David E Kelley for the Netflix Limited Series will be her first directorial after she made her big-screen debut. The series titled A Man in Full is an adaptation of Tom Wolfe’s best-selling novel of the same name.
Set in Atlanta, the storyline follows different characters who try to capitalize on a real estate tycoon’s bankruptcy and the following downfall. First published in 1998, the book was the second novel of Wolfe, who passed away in 2018. It is also inspirational that his work has been a muse to a movie and a recent TV series The Right Stuff. According to reports, King is to direct half of the six one-hour episodes of A Man in Full, ordered by the streaming giant.
King is a favourite face to the TV world as she has featured in many popular shows. She has starred in shows like Southland 24, The Leftovers, Watchmen (which earned her 2020 Emmy), and the recent Netflix show The Harder They Fall. She who has tried her luck in direction with the 2015 show Scandal, continued her successful journey with shows like this Is Us in 2017 and her feature film debut One Night in Miami. The 2020 film won her a nomination for a Golden Globe Award for Best Director and a Directors Guild of America Award for First Time Feature Film.

Meanwhile, Kelley will be the writer as well as the showrunner, who will also be serving as the executive producer for The Man in Full. Tracing back the history, he has been on a winning streak for the adaptations ranging from Big Little Less, Nine Perfect Strangers, The Undoing, to Big Sky.
