The trailer of A Killer Paradox will make all viewers wonder the answer to this too. What happens when morality & crime get stuck in an inescapable circle, with consequences awaiting at either end?
Choi Woo Shik and Son Suk Ku in A Killer Paradox
A Killer Paradox dropped its trailer earlier today and it sure paints a far more captivating picture of a paradoxical ‘killer’ problem than its teaser. Though the teaser offered a fleeting glimpse of the ominous facedown between protagonist Lee Tang and Detective Jang Nan Gam, the trailer built it up without disappointing the viewers, saving the best for the premiere.
Streaming from February 9 onwards on Netflix, the K-drama is going to be the perfect spicy counterpart to the films and shows dropping to further enhance Valentine Day’s saccharine sweetness . A Killer Paradox stars Parasite star Choi Woo Shik as the innocent, bored, but deadly Lee Tang. While seasoned actor Son Suk Ku is his worthy opponent, Detective Jang Nan Gam, who is intuitive and gritty, with a steely exterior and a dark empty inside.
The game of cat and mouse, that begins, slowly evolves to one of a cornered, angry cat versus a deadly mouse that slaughters the lions of the criminal jungle without mercy. Full of gruesome murders, investigation, and suspicion, the trailer then changes mode from a scared Lee Tang, who did not want to kill, to a confident one who doesn’t mind killing other notorious criminals and serial killers.
And there lies the irony and the paradox. The trailer and plot make all viewers yearn to support Lee Tang as the godsent hero, instead of an unpunished sinner. He has the power to tell criminals apart and remove the scourge from the earth’s surface. But what happens when a similar, but intuitive and investigative skill lies in Jang Nan Gam, who sees Lee Tang for the killer he is and not the ‘charity’ he is seemingly doing for society.
There is no proper evidence, the murders are done, and Lee Tang goes scot-free. Or does he? Is the young, shy, works at the supermarket college kid still within Lee Tang, because otherwise his soul is also no longer worth saving. And Detective Nan Gam is there to ensure that justice is served, one way or the other, hopefully.
