Kannada cinema’s Century Star, Shiva Rajkumar’s 125thfilm is the A Harsha directorial Vedha, which is also a home production for the actor. Vedha is a joint venture between his production wing Geetha Pictures and Zee Studios. This film is Shivanna’s fourth collaboration with choreographer-direcctor Harsha, after Bhajarangi, Vajrakaya and Bhajarangi 2. Vedha is a period film set in the 60s. The tagline of the film calls it the ‘brutal 60s’. The film has music by arjun Janya and cinematography by Swamy J Gowda. Ganavi Laxman is the heroine of the film.
After the launch of the film, Shiva Rajkumar had said, "I am very happy to join hands with director Harsha for the fourth time. This film has a universal plot that I'm sure will be liked by all audiences." Vedha is being released in Kannada, Tamil and Telugu. The latest we hear is that Zee Studios has bought the theatrical and non-theatrical rights from Geetha Pictures. A whopping Rs 21 crore was apparently paid for the same in a non-refundable deal.
Meanwhile, Shiva Rajkumar, who turned 60 last month, has a flurry of films lined up next. While Nee Sigoovaregu is next up for release, Vedha is also nearing completion. The Century Star has commitments that should keep him busy for at least 2-3 years. Shivanna has an untitled film with Rishab Shetty, as well as a spy thriller with Sachin B Ravi. There’s Ghost with MG Srinivas, 45 with music man-turned-director Arjun Janya, Satyamangala with Lohith H, and an untitled film with Kotresh Chapparadahalli. Shivanna is also supposed to be shooting for a cameo in Tamil superstar Rajinikanth’s next, Jailer.
Vedha, we hear is a rural tale, and will also star Shwetha Changappa and Umashree.
