94th Academy Awards: Netflix leads the pack with 27 nominations

Benedict Cumberbatch starrer The Power of the Dog tops the list by owning 12 of them

The nominations for the 94th Academy Awards were out last night and the OTT giant Netflix leads the pack. Bagging 27 titles, the platform has many feathers to add to its hat with movies like The Power of the Dog breaking records.

The nominations announced by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences were across 17 categories. Benedict Cumberbatch starrer The Power of the Dog tops the list with 12 nominations. It also breaks records as Jane Campion becomes the first female director to be nominated twice at the Oscars. Ari Wegner is also nominated for cinematography (The Power of the Dog), becoming the second woman to be listed under the category.

Don’t Look Up has secured four nominations, while Andrew Garfield starrer Tick, Tick... BOOM has two, including Best Lead Actor. The Lost Daughter has bagged three nominations, with titles including The Mitchells vs. The Machines, The Hand of God, Robin, Audible, Lead Me Home, and Three Songs for Benazir winning one nomination each.
