Avantika, made her debut in the psychological thriller Mithya streaming on Zee5, alongside acting powerhouse Huma Qureshi. Here are 5 interesting facts you didn’t know about the Mithya actress.
1. Acting is in her genes
You may be unaware that Avantika is the daughter of 90s superstar Bhagyashree, who garnered immense love for her role in the superhit romantic film Maine Pyar Kiya. Her brother, Abhimanyu Dassani, is also an actor who made his Bollywood debut with the 2018 martial arts comedy flick Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota which you can stream on Netflix. The apple didn’t fall far from the tree in this family and Avantika found her calling in acting!
2. She doesn’t like watching Maine Pyar Kiya
Avantika’s mother Bhagyashree gained a massive fan following as the adorable Suman Patwardhan in one of the biggest Bollywood blockbusters of the 80s - Maine Pyar Kiya. While the audience fell in love with Bhagyashree, the same can’t be said of Avantika. The young actor remembers watching the film when she was younger and said that she would walk out of the room if she ever saw it playing again! The reason? Little Avantika found it difficult to watch her mother upset, even if it was only in reel life.
You can catch Maine Pyar Kiya on Amazon Prime, Zee5, and Apple TV.
3. She was conscious of her husky voice
Upon watching the trailer of her debut film Mithya audiences were left mesmerized by Avantika’s husky voice and her effective modulation skills. While the starlet is thankful that viewers appreciated her vocal tonality, she said it wasn’t always the case. Growing up, she was ridiculed due to her husky voice. While she was quite conscious of her voice as a teenager, she has now embraced its uniqueness and uses it to her advantage.
4. She auditioned for Mithya via Zoom
Despite being the daughter of a Bollywood superstar, Avantika did not land her fame on a silver platter. Like any outsider to the industry, Avantika went on several auditions and met with various casting directors. She auditioned for Mithya on the video teleconferencing platform Zoom during the pandemic and landed the role of the antagonist Rhea Rajguru.
5. She’s a trained actor
Upon deciding to build a career in acting, Avantika enrolled in various acting courses in Mumbai, Pondicherry, and Kerala. She is also a trained dancer and martial arts expert. Her hard work has paid off, as is evident in the range she displays as the diabolical Rhea Rajguru in Mithya.
