Khaidi’s success earned Chiranjeevi scores of fans, cementing his authority in Telugu cinema
Chiranjeevi, who recently completed 45 years in Telugu cinema, is busy working on Mega 156, a socio-fantasy saga to be helmed by Bimbisara filmmaker Vassishta. The film, tentatively titled Mega 156, will be produced by UV Creations and have music by MM Keeravaani. The much-anticipated film was formally launched earlier this week. Meanwhile, the star’s milestone film Khaidi turned 40 today.
Khaidi, directed by A Kodandarami Reddy, had Chiranjeevi paired alongside Sumalatha and Madhavi. Paruchuri Brothers wrote the film that helped Chiranjeevi cement his stature as a commercially bankable star in Telugu cinema. The film was loosely inspired by the English First Blood and went onto be remade in Kannada and Hindi (which starred Vishnuvardhan, Jeetendra).
Expressing his happiness about the 40th release anniversary of Khaidi, Chiranjeevi wrote, “Khaidi, just like the title, helped me reside in the hearts of my fans permanently. It’s a major turning point in my career. I can’t forget how audiences enjoyed the film. I can’t help but go down memory lane as Khaidi turns 40. I am thankful to my director, producers at Samyuktha Movies.”

The late Chakravarthy composed the music for the film and the Ragulutondi song, with the popular snake dance, turned out to be a rage at the time of release.
The supporting cast of Khaidi comprises Rao Gopal Rao, Nutan Prasad, Rallapalli, Ranganath, Sangeetha, P L Narayana, Chalapathi Rao, Suthivelu and Sivaprasad. K Dhanunjaya Reddy produced the film which had cinematography by Lok Singh and was edited by Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao. Khaidi can be watched by viewers on OTT via Amazon Prime Video, MX Player and Youtube.
