Veeran:

Filmmaker ARK Saravan, known for his heist comedy Maragatha Naanayam, returns with an action-packed film centred around a homegrown hero. Drawing inspiration from the Malayalam hit Minnal Murali, this movie follows the journey of Kumaran, alias Veeran, who gains superpowers after a lightning strike. Besides his superhuman strength, which enables him to deliver electric arcs to his rivals, Veeran possesses the intriguing ability to manipulate people's behaviour. This aspect proves to be a delightful highlight, surpassing other tricks Veeran employs throughout the story. Despite budget constraints, the film shines due to Saravan's exceptional talent in comedy writing. While the visual effects may be limited, the movie compensates with plenty of comedic moments that make it a worthwhile watch.

Quick Take | Veeran: Comedy triumphs in this average superhero flick

Veeran arrives on Amazon Prime Video on June 30.

Lust Stories 2:

The second instalment to Netflix's Lust Stories 2 brings together some of the brightest minds of the Hindi film industry: Konkona Sen Sharma, Sujoy Ghosh, R. Balki and Amit Sharma. It's a sex-positive anthology film as it considers intimacy as a basic human need while challenging the social stigma around it. Judging from the trailer, the series of short films delve into various aspects of human desires, exploring the complexities and nuances of intimate relationships.

Lust Stories 2 will debut on Netflix on June 29.

Afwaah:

Written and directed by Sudhir Mishra, Afwaah, which is Hindi for rumour, opened in cinemas last month to positive reviews. However, the film suffered from poor distribution. Many complained that the film didn't get ample screen count and prime time slot across cinemas, undercutting the film's earning potential at the box office. Notably, filmmaker Anurag Kashyap urged people to support Afwaah in theatres as he took a stand against the ban on the screening of The Kerala Story in certain states. Afwaah is described as a biting commentary on the pervasive spread of misinformation through the internet, causing unforeseen and life-altering consequences. The film delves into the alarming speed at which rumours can circulate and shape people's lives. The film stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Bhumi Pednekar, Sumeet Vyas, Sharib Hashmi, Sumit Kaul and TJ Bhanu in the lead roles.

Afwaah is set to debut on Netflix on June 30.

Fast X:

Fast X appears to be a thrilling addition to the Fast and Furious franchise, taking fans on a captivating journey from the humble beginnings of Dome and his gang as street car racers to a high-profile private army causing havoc around the world. The trailer promises everything that fans have come to love about this long-standing series, including high-stakes action sequences and intense hand-to-hand combat. As the franchise approaches its end, Fast X marks the beginning of the final chapter of the film series that started back in 2001. However, it seems that Universal Pictures is not yet ready to bid farewell to this beloved franchise, as it continues to be a box office success despite the ever-changing dynamics of the post-Covid world. The producers have reportedly decided to turn Fast X into a trilogy.

Fast X will premiere on BookMyShow Stream on June 30.
