Beau Is Afraid:
The Verdict: None can take the Superstar title from Rajinikanth because...
Are you up for a challenge? Then Beau Is Afraid will be a perfect film that will test your imagination, intelligence and ability to find patterns in chaos. Filmmaker Ari Aster has emerged as one of the most important voices in modern cinema. And it won't be an exaggeration to say that he has staked all the goodwill he gained with his past hits like Midsommar and Hereditary to bring Beau Is Afraid to life. It's the most absurdist comedy/horror of the decade. At the heart of this bizarre film is a toxic mother-son relationship that takes the shape of a macabre tragic-comedy towards the end. Joaquin Phoenix's Beau is a 40-something virgin burdened by a haunting past and the complexities of an emotionally draining maternal bond. Aster gives a very subject view of the story, putting us inside the head of a man with a severe case of anxiety and paranoia. In this surreal realm, anything becomes possible—riots erupt without explanation, strangers invade private spaces, and deep family secrets unravel in the most unexpected ways. It's not an easy watch. But, again, if you are seeking something outside the confines of conventional three-act storytelling and ready to put your cinematic sensibilities to the test and embrace a mind-bending journey, Beau Is Afraid is the right film for you.

The Hunt For Veerappan:
Netflix's The Hunt For Veerappan delves deep into the gripping narrative of the infamous bandit Veerappan, whose audacious escapades in the Sathyamangalam forest kept India's security forces at bay for nearly two decades. The teaser promises a closer look at Veerappan's unprecedented notoriety, dubbing him a 'criminal like no other' in the history of the modern world. Through unseen archival footage and audio recordings, the docu-series promises to unravel the massive effort that went behind the nation's most expensive and protracted manhunts. Veerappan's persona is a polarizing dichotomy. While he posed a formidable challenge to state governments and security establishments, he was hailed by some as 'India's Robin Hood.'
The Hunt For Veerappan premieres on Netflix on August 4.
Dayaa:
Disney+Hotstar's upcoming series Dayaa stars JD Chekravarthy, Ramya Nambeesan and Eesha Rebba in the lead roles. Judging from the trailer, the series tells the story of a seemingly innocent track driver with a heavily pregnant wife, who becomes a victim of his circumstances. A police investigation begins into the missing of a high-profile journalist, played by Ramya Nambeesan. However, she turns up dead in Chekravarthy's Dayaa's truck. Afraid to involve the police, for reasons unknown, Dayaa tries to get rid of the body and entraps himself deeper into the conspiracy. Directed by Pavan Sadineni, the trailer promises an engaging series.
Dayaa debuts on Disney+Hotstar on August 4.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3:
If you are looking for something that's a blend of light-hearted escapism and blockbuster excitement then look no further than Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3. The movie is supposed to be the final chapter in the Guardians of the Galaxy saga. And based on the reviews it has garnered, director James Gunn seems to have given the band of misfits a fitting and memorable farewell. Some have said that this movie is also heavy on emotions and Gunn has explored some dark themes, including the traumatic pasts of the beloved characters. The movie stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldaña, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan and Pom Klementieff among others.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 is streaming on Dinsey+Hotstar.
