If February 2025 had only Unni Mukundan’s Marco and Neeraj Madhav’s JioHotstar web series Love Under Construction, March 2025 promises to be a treat for fans who are waiting for the latest Malayalam OTT releases.

Several platforms have already announced the release dates of exciting Malayalam movies that have hit theatres this year, including Asif Ali and Anaswara Rajan’s Rekhachithram to Vineeth Sreenivasan and Nikhila Vimal’s Oru Jaathi Jathakam. Directed by Jofin T Chacko, the first superhit of Malayalam cinema of 2025 revolves around a cop investigation of the case of a missing woman, whose whereabouts were last traced to the sets of a Mammootty-starrer in the late 80s. The film, which melds cinema as well as the tropes of investigation, has several special appearances including that of Mammootty in his look from the 80s, recreated by AI.

Officer On Duty

While Kunchacko Boban’s latest superhit is still running to packed houses in theatres, the film is expected to hit the streaming platform before March 20. The movie, directed by Jithu Asharaf and scripted by Shahi Kabir, revolves around a demoted circle inspector who begins his investigation to track a gang responsible for fake jewellery, but eventually is led to a group of drug-peddling youngsters who are seeking revenge. His trauma further makes the case challenging and all the more engrossing for the viewers.

Oru Jaathi Jathakam

Vineeth Sreenivasan plays Jayesh, a 37-year-old who can’t find a suitable girl to get married to. Even when he does find a match, there are several challenges along the way, including his own set of criteria, which makes it harder for him to get married. The comedy, about the transformation of a narrow-minded chauvinist into someone better, also has Babu Antony, Kayadu Lohar, Nikhila Vimal and Indu Thampy in pivotal roles

After witnessing the murder of a senior cop, while being in a tricky situation himself, cab driver Joekuttan decides to approach a police station to state what he saw. But things turn topsy-turvy when his actions could also get his sister caught in the crossfire. The movie also has Sabumon Abdusamad, Anoop Menon and Baiju Santhosh in pivotal roles.
