Maanaadu, the 2021 Tamil film featuring Silambarasan, has completed three years since its release. The film, directed by Venkat Prabhu, is available for streaming on SonyLIV and OTTplay Premium.
Maanaadu is a political thriller film, which stars Silambarasan aka Simbu in the lead role. Helmed by Venkat Prabhu, Maanaadu is about an NRI man who arrives in India to attend his friend’s wedding, but without explanation, gets stuck in a time-loop of one day that helps him to prevent the assassination of the chief minister of the state. Maanaadu marks the first time Silambarasan collaborated with Venkat Prabhu. The film became a commercial success and received positive responses upon its release. The film’s tight screenplay, aided by the cast performances helped the film win the hearts of the audience. Apart from Simbu, the film also stars SJ Suryah, Kalyani Priyadarshan, SA Chandrasekhar, Y. G. Mahendran, Karunakaran, Premgi Amaren, Aravind Akash and Anjena Kirti. Bankrolled by V House Productions, Maanaadu has music by Yuvan Shankar Raja and is edited by Praveen KL. Richard M Nathan is the cinematographer.
Silambarasan fans are awaiting the release of his next film, which will be Thug Life. Last seen in Pathu Thala, the actor will be co-starring along with Kamal Haasan in Mani Ratnam film. Thug Life is slated for a theatrical release on June 5, 2025.
Meanwhile, Simbu will also do a film with director Ashwath Marimuthu, which will be produced by AGS Entertainment. More details on the cast and crew, will be unveiled soon by the makers.
