Karan Horgan's Army turns 28, showcasing a unique blend of action and emotion with Shah Rukh Khan and Sridevi.
There's only one film featuring Shah Rukh Khan and Sridevi together but even that features the former in a brief role, setting the whole plot for the storyline. Yes, we are talking about Army, the 1996 action flick that has completed 28 years since its release today. Director Karan Horgan reportedly drew inspiration for the film from Sholay. If you are planning to catch up with Army, the film is currently streaming on ZEE5 (OTTplay Premium) and Prime Video.
Talking about the plot of the film, Shah Rukh Khan plays Major Arjun Singh, a loyal soldier and friend of the legendary Jailer Raghuvir Singh, played by Kiran Kumar. In flashbacks, the story recounts their encounters. Geeta (Sridevi) becomes pregnant after he marries her, and he falls deeply in love with her.
Not long after meeting Naagraj (Danny Denzongpa), Arjun becomes entangled in the illegal dealings of the infamous criminal. Arjun goes undercover with Nagraj's gang, but Nagraj discovers his true identity, ending his life.

Geeta resolves to exact revenge for Arjun's murder the moment she learns about it. Incredulous that a helpless widow could possibly harm him, Naagraj scowls at Geeta upon learning that she is seeking revenge. To his amazement, though, Geeta and a band of young, fugitive convicts who are hell-bent on bringing Naagraj to justice will not back down, no matter the cost.
The supporting cast includes Sudesh Berry, Mohnish Behl, Ronit Roy, Ravi Kishan, Harish Kumar, Aasif Sheikh, Ashok Saraf, and Tinnu Anand.
Earlier, while working with the late Sridevi in the film Army SRK said in a throwback interview that a lot of people think she acts differently when she's on camera. One wanted to witness it for themselves, and in the end, he learned that, while she is performing, she goes through this whole process of seeing herself. The superstar has learned a lot from Sridevi because she has been in the industry for 35 years and is highly knowledgeable about the filming process.
Shah Rukh also added that, because she is an artist in every sense of the word, they get along famously. In her artistic pursuits, Sridevi shows no restraint. Although she may come across as shy or reticent in real life, her acting career allows her to let her guard down and be completely honest about her emotions.
