It is 25 years since the release of the 1999 romantic drama film Nee Varuvai Ena. Starring actors Parthiban, Devyani, Ramesh Khanna and others, the film featured Ajith Kumar in an extended cameo and crucial role. The film is available for streaming on SunNXT and OTTplay Premium.

A romantic drama, Nee Varuvai Ena stars Parthiban and Devyani in the lead roles. The film released on August 14, 1999, on the occasion of Independence Day, marking 25 years since its release. Nee Varuvai Ena is written and directed by Rajakumaran and also starred actors Ramesh Khanna, Vijayakumar, Fathima Babu, Jai Ganesh, and others. The film also marked a special and extended cameo appearance by Ajith Kumar. The film is available for streaming on SunNXT and OTTplay Premium.

The film revolves around two individuals, played by Parthiban and Devyani. While the former falls in love with the latter and assume his feelings are reciprocated, he comes to know that the girl admires his eyes more than him. The reason is that they have been transplanted from her dead lover’s body, played by Ajith Kumar.

Nee Varuvai Ena opened to highly positive reviews upon release. It was made in Telugu as Ninne Premistha, in Kannada as Ninne Preethisuve and in Malayalam as Pranayamanithooval. Nee Varuvai Enna was produced by RB Choudary under Super Good Films banner. The film had music by SA Rajkumar with Agilan cranking the camera. V Jaishankar edited the film.

The film is a family drama, which has enough engagement factor even today. There are some unclarified reports stating that Vijay was initially offered the role played by Parthiban. However, he had wanted to play Ajith’s role, and later walked out of the project. The authenticity of the news has not been verified.
