Hrithik Roshan and Preity Zinta's film, Lakshya, has completed 20 years of its release. On this occasion, the makers made a special announcement about its re-release.

Lakshya to re-release in theatres.
It has been 20 years since Lakshya released in theatres. Directed by Farhan Akhtar, the movie featured Hrithik Roshan and Preity Zinta in the lead roles. The film had its theatrical release on June 18, 2004. On this occasion, Farhan's Excel Entertainment made a special announcement about the film's re-release. 20 years down the line, Lakshya will be re-released in cinemas. The official date of Lakshya's re-release is June 21, 2024.
Lakshya to be re-release in theatres!
Amitabh Bachchan, who was also an integral part of the 2004 film, shared this special announcement about Lakshya's re-release on his Instagram account. The caption to his IG post read, "Come, relive the journey of a film that ignited countless dreams and inspired generations. Celebrating 20 years of Lakshya, in cinemas on 21st June (sic)."

Apart from Hrithik, Preity and Big B, the star cast of Lakshya included late actor Om Puri, Boman Irani, and Ranvir Shorey, among several others. The movie revolves around an aimless person Karan Shergill who joins the Indian Army and turns out to be a battlefield hero.
Why was Hrithik Roshan cast in Lakshya?
Earlier, in an interview with Rediff, Farhan revealed why he chose to cast Hrithik in the lead role. "The script demanded who the actor should be. My dad [Javed Akhtar], Ritesh [Sidhwani, producer], and I agreed on Hrithik because he has the physique and the looks that suit the character. Physicality was important because he should look like he is in the army. He should be able to convey physical as well as mental toughness," he said.

While you can enjoy Lakshya's re-release in theatres on June 21, the film is also available for streaming on OTT giants. Hrithik Roshan and Preity Zinta's movie can be streamed on Amazon Prime Video and Netflix.
