Rita Wilson is gearing up to make her return to television with the series 1883, albeit in a small role. The actress will appear in an upcoming episode of the Yellowstone prequel in a guest role.
According to a report in Variety, Wilson will play the role of Carolyn who is a shopkeeper at Doan’s Crossing. She meets Margaret(played by Faith Hill) at her shop and helps the latter destress with an offering of whisky.
Wilson’s husband Tom Hanks had also had a guest role on the series in its second episode where he played a fictional version of General George Meade, a US army officer who was a prominent figure in the American Civil War.
Her role in 1883 will mark Wilson’s first TV role in almost 5 years, her last being a role in the drama series Pitch. Wilson has also appeared in films such as Sleepless in Seattle,Jingle All the Way, Borat Subsequent Moviefilm and Runaway Bride. Besides her acting credits Wilson has also served as a producer on films such as My Big Fat Greek Wedding and Mamma Mia!
1883 is a prequel to the Kevin Costner led series Yellowstone. The fourth season of the series premiered in November last year, and can be streamed on Amazon Prime Video.
1883 traces the origin story of the Dutton family and how they came to be the owners of one of the latest ranches in Montana.

The series stars Sam Elliott, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Billy Bob Thornton, Isabel May and Lamonica Garrett.The series is created by Taylor Sheridan, who was also co-creator of the prequel show.
1883 premiered on Paramount+ on December 19 last year.
