Ayalum Njanum Thammil, the medical drama released in 2012 underlined Prithviraj Sukumaran’s immense acting potential. The movie, which marked the actor’s third collaboration with senior filmmaker Lal Jose, earned rave reviews from both the audiences and critics at the time of its release. Ayalum Njanum Thammil eventually earned cult status among the cinephiles and is still considered one of the finest Malayalam films produced in the last decade. The Prithviraj Sukumaran starrer completed 12 years of its release, on October 19, 2024.
The Lal Jose directorial, which features Prithviraj Sukumaran as the central character, Dr. Ravi Tharakan, is a must-watch film if you wish to explore Malayalam cinema. Ayalum Njanum Thammil is currently available for streaming on the popular OTT platform, Sun NXT. The much-loved film is also available for streaming on OTTplay Premium. However, the medical drama is streaming only in Malayalam on both platforms, and subtitles are not available yet.
The movie, scripted by Bobby-Sanjay duo, revolves around the life story of Dr. Ravi Tharakan, an aimless junior doctor who has zero interest in his profession, and his journey to become the most respected cardiac surgeon in the city. Ravi undergoes a major transformation after he part ways with the love of his life, Dr. Sainaba aka Sainu (played by Samvritha Sunil). Later, he changes his ways with the guidance of his mentor, Dr. Samuel.

Prathap Pothen played the role of Dr. Samuel in the film, which features Narain, Remya Nambeesan, Kalabhavan Mani, Prem Prakash, Salim Kumar, Swasika, Anil Murali, Surabhi Lakshmi, Sukumari, Ramu, Ambika Mohan, and others in the supporting roles. Ouseppachan composed the music score for the movie, and the heartbreak song ‘Azhalinte Azhangalil’ remains a listeners’ favourite, to date. Jomon T John is the director of photography. Ranjan Abraham handled the editing of the film, produced by Prem Prakash, under the baner Prakash Movie Tone.
