The film was the official selection for the 2022 International Film Festival of Kerala
The trailer for 1001 Nunakal, which was screened at the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) in December 2022, has been released. The trailer seems like the movie will be a gripping drama and have shades of movies like Perfect Strangers and Nothing to Hide in it.

When a fire breaks out in an apartment, a couple seeks refuge in their friends' home. While staying over, the hosts suggest the couple join their wedding anniversary celebration by spending the night. Joined by other close friends, they come together to celebrate the hosts' significant milestone - their 10th wedding anniversary. During the anniversary celebration, the group decides to play a game of dare, where each person reveals a lie they have told their partner. Unfortunately, the game proves to be detrimental to their relationships, as it exposes their secrets.
The film 1001 Nunakal explores the theme of friendship, as stated by its director, Thamar KV. The movie aims to highlight the fact that people often hide behind masks and don't reveal their true selves. It also touches upon the topic of marriage, shedding light on the conventional aspects of it without turning them into mere WhatsApp jokes. The movie presents some hard-hitting stories that may be difficult for some viewers to digest. The director believes that the film will offer a series of surprising twists and revelations.
1001 Nunakal is bankrolled by director Salim Ahamed known for films like Pathemari and Adaminte Makan Abu. Scripted by Thamar and Hashim Sulaiman, the film stars Vishnu Agasthya, Remya Suresh, Shamla Hamza, Niinliin Kassim, Zhinz Shan, Noufal Vijayakumar and Sooraj K Nambiar. The movie features mostly new actors, which was a specific requirement of the makers.
Jithin Stanislaus has lensed the film while music has been composed by Neha Nair and Yakzan Gary Pereira. Nishadh Yusuf, who recently bagged the Kerala State Award for Best Editor has done the editing. Sony LIV has bagged the OTT rights and the film will be streaming from August 18th.
