1001 Nunakal OTT release: When, where to watch this gripping drama

The film revolves around the events happening during a wedding anniversary celebration after the attendees decide to play a dare game

1001 Nunakal is a drama, helmed by Thamar KV starring Remya Suresh, Vidhya Vijaykumar, Zhinz Shan and Vishnu Agasthya. The film, which was an official selection to the International Film Festival of Kerala 2022, revolves around a wedding anniversary celebration and the events happening on that night.

What is 1001 Nunakal about?

The story of 1001 Nunakal (Thousand and one lies) centres around a wealthy migrant couple's wedding anniversary celebration. The event is attended by their friends including a couple who sought refuge in the wealthy couple's home after a fire destroyed their apartment. During the gathering, a game of 'dare' is suggested wherein each person must reveal a lie they have told their spouse. Although it initially seems like a fun idea, the game begins to expose many secrets and eventually has an impact on the relationships among the friends. Even though the film has a similar plot to Mohanlal's 12th Man the film is expected to progress as a realistic drama delving into the themes of marriage, and friendship.

The recently released trailer showcases a variety of characters, each with their unique perspectives and attitudes towards various topics. The dialogue within the trailer suggests that the film will focus on the conflict between these characters having different viewpoints. Additionally, the trailer features several intense moments, including emotional scenes and arguments between characters. One interesting aspect of the trailer is the distinct slang used by each character, which proves the attention to detail given to characters in the script.

During a conversation with Cue Studio, the director mentioned that while the setting of 1001 Nunakal may be similar to that of many other movies, the theme of this film is unique. He emphasized that the focus is not on migrant lives in general, but rather on the stories of six specific migrant couples.

Although 1001 Nunakal features a cast of relatively new faces, the technicians who worked on the film are experienced professionals. Notably, Nishadh Yusuf and Jithin Stanislaus served as the editor and cinematographer, respectively.

1001 Nunakal will be available to stream on Sony LIV  from August 18.
