The Kannada remake of the Tamil film Thiruttu Payale 2, stars Ramesh, Vishwa Karna, Purnaa and Rachita Ram in main roles.
Kannada actor-filmmaker Ramesh Aravind’s last directorial was the cybercrime thriller 100, which released in theatres on November 19. Although the film is based on filmmaker Susi Ganesan’s Thiruttu Payale 2, Ramesh had made substantial changes to the narrative to suit his image as an actor and the sensibilities of the Kannada film audience.
The film’s story follows a smart cybercrime official Vishnu, whose world is turned upside down when a criminal, Harsha, targets his family. Harsha’s primary hobby is to woo and then entrap gullible women into sharing his bed and then blackmailing them. When he targets Vishnu’s sister Hima, things get personal for the latter, but taking on the tech-smart Harsha isn’t easy as he seems to be one step ahead of Vishnu all the time. Can Vishnu get his family out of this trap unscathed?
Speaking to us ahead of the film’s theatrical release, Ramesh had said, “100 is a family drama, and revolves around a husband, wife and their kid, with a cybercrime angle, which makes it a niche subject. This is a film about how technology is messing our lives. There’s a saying that ‘a knife in the wrong hand can cause a river of blood, while power in the wrong hands can distort history’. Similarly, technology in the wrong hands can be an absolute killer and that is what this film explores.”
The film, which has music by KGF fame composer Ravi Basrur, is now headed to OTT. So, if you missed watching it when it was in theatres, you can now catch it in the comfort of your home. 100 will release on Zee5 this week, with the platform announcing February 4 as the date.
