Actor Dhanush’s Velaiyilla Pattathari has turned 10 this year. The film, which became a turning point in Dhanush’s career, gave him the image of a commercial hero. It is an action-drama film written and directed by filmmaker Velraj in his directorial debut. The film is backed by Dhanush himself under the banner of Wunderbar Films. VIP also stars actors Amala Paul, Vivek, Saranya Ponvannan, Samuthirakani and Surbhi, among others. The film is available for streaming on SunNXT and OTTplay Premium.

Velaiyilla Pattathari is about an unemployed graduate, Raghuvaran, who struggles to find a job and is in love with a woman who earns well and is from an affluent family. After repeated attempts, Raghuvaran gets a job. But he has to overcome several challenges at his new office.
Anirudh Ravichander has scored the music for the film. It is to be noted that Dhanush named his character Raghuvaran after the late actor, who was seen for the last time in Yaaradi Nee Mohini.
Where to watch VIP 2
Following the success of VIP, a sequel for the film was made and released in 2017, titled Velaiyilla Pattathari 2, or VIP 2. With Dhanush reprising his role, the film was directed by Soundarya Rajinikanth and written by Dhanush.
VIP 2 starred Amala Paul, Vivek, Hrishikesh, Saranya Ponvannan, Ritu Varma, and Samuthirakani, along with Kajol playing the antagonist. The film can be streamed on SunNXT and OTTplay Premium. However, the sequel did not perform as well as the 2014 film and opened to mixed reviews. The film was produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu and Dhanush, and Anirudh composed the music.
